چکیده
We consider a time reversal symmetry (TRS) broken Kane-Mele model superimposed with Haldane and chart out the phase diagram using spin Chern number to investigate fate of quantum anomalous Hall insulator (QAHI) (QSHI) phases. Interestingly, in addition QSHI QAHI phase, unveils (QASHI) where only one sector is topological. also find multicritical points three / four topological boundaries coalesce. These phases are protected by an effective TRS composite anti-unitary particle-hole leading remarkable properties edge modes. spin-selective, spin-polarized spin-neutral transport QASHI, respectively. Our study indicates that robustness mainly depends on gap which does not necessarily vanish at Dirac across transition. believe our proposals can be tested near future recent experimental advancements solid state cold atomic systems.

Time-reversal-symmetry-broken quantum spin Hall effect.
The quantum spin Hall (QSH) state of matter is usually considered to be protected by time-reversal (TR) symmetry. We investigate the fate of the QSH effect in the presence of the Rashba spin-orbit coupling and an exchange field, which break both inversion and TR symmetries. It is found that the QSH state characterized by nonzero spin Chern numbers C(±) = ±1 persists when the TR symmetry is brok...
متن کاملInteractions and broken time-reversal symmetry in chaotic quantum dots
When treating interactions in quantum dots within a random-phase-approximation sRPAd-like approach, time-reversal symmetry plays an important role as higher-order terms—the Cooper series—need to be included when this symmetry is present. Here we consider model quantum dots in a magnetic field weak enough to leave the dynamics of the dot chaotic, but strong enough to break time-reversal symmetry...
متن کاملBroken versus Non-Broken Time Reversal Symmetry: Irreversibility and Response
We review some approaches to macroscopic irreversibility from reversible microscopic dynamics, introducing the contribution of time dependent perturbations within the framework of recent developments in non-equilibrium statistical physics. We show that situations commonly assumed to violate the time reversal symmetry (presence of magnetic fields, rotating reference frames, and some time depende...
متن کاملSpontaneous magnetization and Hall effect in superconductors with broken time-reversal symmetry
Broken time reversal symmetry (BTRS) in d wave superconductors is studied and is shown to yield current carrying surface states. The corresponding spontaneous magnetization is temperature independent near the critical temperature Tc for weak BTRS, in accord with recent data. The Hall conductance is found to vanish at zero wavevector q and finite frequency ω, however at finite q, ω it has an unu...
متن کاملBroken-Symmetry Quantum Hall States in Twisted Bilayer Graphene
Twisted bilayer graphene offers a unique bilayer two-dimensional-electron system where the layer separation is only in sub-nanometer scale. Unlike Bernal-stacked bilayer, the layer degree of freedom is disentangled from spin and valley, providing eight-fold degeneracy in the low energy states. We have investigated broken-symmetry quantum Hall (QH) states and their transitions due to the interpl...
